How you can help
CHILDREN AT JOS
JOS House continues to offer safety and shelter to children in desperate need. While in our care, they will receive quality food, education (including a range of extracurricular activities. Rehabilitation is extensive; medical and psychological needs are addressed, their personal documentation (including health insurance and school registration) is completed where necessary, and a slow, detailed investigation is conducted regarding their personal background and immediate family. Where possible, a tailor-made program to better enable their family of origin to take care of them will be implemented. By the end of their up to 18 months at JOS House, qualified professionals will have completed their evaluation, and the child will either be reunited with their family, adopted (if under 6 years old), or adopted-all in close cooperation with relevant government authorities.
When it is time for a JOS child to return home, their and their family needs are carefully assessed and the most effective assistance decided. It may include anything from school fees to toiletries and rice, with the aim of empowering the family to take good care of their children. Supported children and their families are then monitored on an ongoing basis, so you can be assured your support is making a real difference to these kids’ lives.
How is the level of support decided?
It is essential families receive support to ensure the children grow into healthy, well-educated young adults so the cycle of poverty can be broken. JOS, supported by a team of well-qualified professionals, has examined every individual circumstance and commits to a support package accordingly; including such fundamentals as educational and associated costs, food, phone data for online education (schools are closed in Indonesia due to COVID-19), rent assistance, personal care items, etc. Support packages are delivered monthly, and correct implementation is ensured by close monitoring. They are designed to foster the family’s financial independence.
The sponsorship cost also includes a 20% administration fee which contributes towards the costs of running our foundation, and staff. JOS undertakes an annual financial audit. Inventories are well-maintained and any details regarding JOS payments and expenditures are available upon request.
